Following the approval by the Ministry of National Education and the Board of Education and Discipline for the AP (Advanced Placement) international curriculum program, the decision on the acceptance of AP applications was published in the Journal of Communiqués. Students who can take 5 courses in 4 different fields according to their interests in the AP international curriculum gain foreign language skills at native level. In the program officially recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and Turkish universities, students can complete their university education in 3 years and also receive double diploma.
“Our students will be more active in the international arena”
Stating that they were happy and proud to be rewarded for their efforts after approximately 8 months of intensive work, WCEP Turkey General Manager Volkan Cerrahoğlu said, “The main purpose of implementing these star projects in public high schools is to make the education our students receive easily expressed in the world with international instruments. We will continue our efforts to integrate our public high schools into the world with new projects for our children."
Referring to the collaboration, Kabataş Erkek Lisesi Principal Selman Küçük said, "First of all, I hope it will be beneficial to our school and our students. As Kabataş Erkek Lisesi, one of the leading educational institutions of our country for 112 years, we became the first public high school to implement the AP International Curriculum program. We would like to thank our Ministry of National Education, the Board of Education and Discipline, and WCEP officials."
Opportunity to be exempt from university courses with high school education
Advanced Placement, which was first implemented in the United States and spread all over the world, is applied in more than 60 countries. The program, which is implemented in a very few schools in Turkey, is considered one of the most important international diploma programs in the world. The program, which has been implemented since 1955, is carried out by the College Board, which is also the administrator of the SAT exams taken by students who want to receive undergraduate education at American universities. Advanced Placement Program stands out as a strong and comprehensive program that requires hard working and aims for excellence in education. The program offers students the opportunity to take university-level courses while still in high school, both in terms of the content and teaching of the courses and the way it measures knowledge. AP, also called the pre-university program, also provides advantages to students in the admission process and exemption from courses when applying to universities abroad.
