One of the important international high school education programs in the world, AP (Advanced Placement) was implemented at Istanbul Validebağ Science High School among science high schools in Turkey.
Istanbul Validebağ Science High School, which is one of the well-established schools in Turkey and was gradually transformed into a science high school with the approval of the Ministry in 2018, signed the International Academic Partnership Protocol with WCEP (International High School Student Exchange Program) and was put into practice AP (Advanced Placement), one of the world's important international high school education programs. Students of Istanbul Validebağ High School, which is stated to be the first science high school in Turkey to implement the international curriculum, will have the opportunity to complete their university education in 3 years and receive double diploma with this curriculum officially recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and Turkish universities. In addition, students will be able to benefit from special quotas and admission opportunities with the "Canadian Ministry of Education Mutual Student Exchange Program" to be implemented within the scope of the protocol.

"The aim is to open students to the world with modern education"
Pointing out that they successfully completed a comprehensive work process of approximately one year and signed a cooperation that would be an example for science high schools, WCEP Turkey General Manager Volkan Cerrahoğlu said, "It is a great honor to open another of our well-established schools to the world on this path we set out to carry the education of our public high schools to the international level. Especially, the fact that a science high school implements the international curriculum for the first time is very valuable as it reinforces our belief that the change-oriented projects we have developed will take our youth and therefore our country even further. Our main goal is to enable students to open up to the world as individuals who have intercultural skills and represent their country in the best way abroad through a modern education.”

Referring to the cooperation, Istanbul Validebağ Science High School Principal Gürhan Kurukaya said, "I hope this cooperation will be beneficial for our school and our students. We are proud to be the first science high school to implement the AP International Curriculum program. Our main aim is to raise people who respect people, nature, national and spiritual heritage, who are brave, who read, question, think freely, prioritize right and justice, and have 21st century skills. Now it is time to ensure that these people have their feet on the ground, no matter where they are in the world. We would like to thank all our teachers, administrators, project consultants, and dear WCEP family who supported us on this path.”

It will be possible to be exempt from university courses with high school education.
Advanced Placement, which was first implemented in the United States and spread all over the world, is applied in more than 60 countries. The program, which is implemented in a very few schools in Turkey, is considered one of the most important international diploma programs in the world. The program, which has been implemented since 1955, is carried out by the College Board, which is also the administrator of the SAT exams taken by students who want to receive undergraduate education at American universities. Advanced Placement Program stands out as a strong and comprehensive program that requires hard working and aims for excellence in education. The program offers students the opportunity to take university-level courses while still in high school, both in terms of the content and teaching of the courses and the way it measures knowledge. AP, also called the pre-university program, also provides advantages to students in the admission process and exemption from courses when applying to universities abroad.
