Every year, 50 thousand students from Turkey choose schools abroad to study. International High School Student Exchange Program WCEP announced that it provided a $1 million scholarship in cooperation with the US Association of Private Schools, enabling 25 students from Turkey to be accepted to the best boarding schools in the USA.
According to the education statistics announced by UNESCO for Turkey, 50 thousand students from our country go abroad every year to make their education life more productive. Good news for students who want to study in the USA, which is one of the top preferred countries, came from the International High School Student Exchange Program WCEP. The Canada-based academic organization announced its collaboration with the US Association of Private Schools. WCEP Turkey General Manager Volkan Cerrahoğlu said, “We provided 1 million dollars of scholarships to 25 students from Turkey, offering them the opportunity to receive boarding education in the high schools of the best universities in the USA. Thus, students selected for our program have a more productive education process while preparing for university.”
80 PERCENT OF STUDENTS STUDYING AT A BOARDING SCHOOL FEEL MORE READY FOR THE ACADEMY
Stating that, according to the research conducted by the US Boarding Schools Association, 80 percent of boarding school students feel more prepared for the academic life and campus environment at the university, Volkan Cerrahoğlu said, “The students we graduated from boarding schools such as Preparatory, Fryeburg, and Lee Academy are easily accepted to the best universities in the USA such as Preparatory, Fryeburg, Lee Academy, George Washington, Michigan State, and California, and they also have an elite status in their business life. Boarding schools in the USA, whose annual fees vary between 50 and 90 thousand dollars, are very selective when accepting students. Considering that Turkish students meet these criteria exactly, we, as the WCEP Team, provided 1 million dollar scholarship to 25 students we selected from many cities of Turkey, enabling them to study in the best boarding schools in the USA.”
LET YOUR CLASSROOM BE THE WORLD
WCEP Turkey General Manager Volkan Cerrahoğlu stated that among the schools from which they receive the most demand in Turkey were high schools such as Kabataş Boy’s, Cağaloğlu Anatolian, Validebağ Science, and Istanbul Atatürk Science High School, and said, “Boarding schools in the USA prefer students who are interested in various branches in addition to academic success. That's why students who were candidates for our program faced a detailed application process. After the students were successful in the selection exam and interview, we included them in the program by evaluating them with criteria such as having worked on at least one sports, art or academic field, received good references from their teachers, and achieved a grade point average of over 80 in the last 3 years. We are happy to have implemented a project in which we support successful students by collaborating with the US Private Schools Association on this path that we set out with the motto 'Let Your Classroom Be the World'."
